In this workshop at Tudor Rose Patchwork, join Caroline in a sashiko workshop. Create a Japanese-inspired fabric envelope sewn on the machine and embellished by hand with a range of sashiko patterns. The finished envelope will be lined with a coordinating or contrasting fabric. Choose colours and fabrics for yourself or as a gift for a friend. Use it to wrap gifts, letters , photos and other special items. Each will be unique. Learn a little about Japanese culture, seasonal influences and hear about her experiences of living in Japan and learning from skilled craftspeople. In this workshop join Caroline to hand-embroider with sashiko on quality cotton napkins (approx 35cm square.) Use one of Caroline's sashiko designs based on her Daisy hitomezashi stencil. Can also be a sustainable project, reusing preloved or vintage fabrics. Learn the skills to continue and create a set of napkins for your home, as a gift or for a special celebratory meal. Choose from a selection of prepared fabrics. Using embroidery thread from a selection of colours, form sashiko stitching to embellish your piece. Hear some of Caroline's stories from living in Japan and learning from skilled craftspeople. Give embroidery a go in a relaxed environment. All materials and full instructions will be provided in your workshop kit

In this workshop join Caroline to hand-embroider Japanese-inspired temari balls. Each ball measures approximately 45mm in diameter and you will embellish them with pretty embroidery threads. You'll explore embroidery on light-weight thread-wrapped balls. This is a sustainable project, which allows use of materials from previous projects with many options of alternative materials. You will choose from a selection of prepared balls and use embroidery thread from a selection of colours to form a design based on a traditional pattern but with a modern twist. Hear some of Caroline's stories from living in Japan and learning from skilled craftspeople. Give hand-stitching a go in a relaxed environment. All materials and full instructions will be provided in your workshop kit

In this workshop, join Caroline to create a set of seasonal or festive postcards using pen and watercolour. Etegami (picture postcards from Japan) are a snapshot of the moment, a chance to relax, draw and paint and capture an item close to you in your everyday life. Add a special message, poem, quote, bible verse or even recipe to annotate your work. Send to a friend or loved one or keep as artwork for your home. Templates will be provided to aid your creativity or feel free to bring along items or photographs from home, that you would love to draw and paint. Prepare and embroider a traditional design (Spindle) and learn the meaning of seasonal symbols in Japanese culture. Choose your colourway to blend with your home ready for the winter and Christmas season, adding a hanging hook to proudly display on your Christmas tree or decorative branches. Each will be unique.
