One in a series of greetings cards designed by Caroline using inspiration from time spent living in Kobe, Japan. Taken from artwork created with hand carved stamps of iconic Japanese symbols.

Like many fruits in Japan, strawberries (ichigo in Japanese) are grown for taste and also to impress. Shizuoka prefecture is known as the Kingdom of the Strawberry because of its vast production of the fruit. Summer outdoor season is around May-July with many pick-your-own farms open to the public. My strongest memory of strawberries are those available from December until April (greenhouse grown varieties.) Seen in cakes, sandwiches, jellies and many other delicious dishes.
