One in a series of greetings cards designed by Caroline using inspiration from time spent living in Kobe, Japan. Taken from artwork created with hand carved stamps of iconic Japanese symbols.
Sukiyaki (γγηΌγ) is a warming hot pot style dish, often served in a cast iron skillet and shared at the table. The ingredients used can vary slightly from region to region but thin slices of meat are usually cooked with leafy greens, mushrooms, tofu and noodles. My friend Yuri cooked this for us and I have loved its sweet and salty flavours ever since. In Japan it is popular to serve this dish with a raw egg for dipping and to add more sweetness and richness.
