One in a series of greetings cards designed by Caroline using inspiration from time spent living in Kobe, Japan. Taken from artwork created with hand carved stamps of iconic Japanese symbols.

The dragonfly has a strong significance in Japan.
Ancient Japan was referred to as The Island of the Dragonfly (akitsushima in Japanese) and some people say the Legend describes the shape of Japan’s islands as similar to the form of a dragonfly or pair of dragonflies. The insect represents victory and agility and because it never flies backwards, encourages a positive attitude. Ancient art, pottery and samurai history all include this powerful symbol. A beautiful insect seen flying in huge numbers in late summer and autumn.
