FAQs and terms and conditions

One in a series of greetings cards designed by Caroline using inspiration from time spent living in Kobe, Japan. Taken from artwork created with hand carved stamps of iconic Japanese symbols.

ume, or plum blossom, is the first of the flowering fruits to bloom in Japan, signifying the end of winter and the start of early spring. Depending on the region and the weather, this is usually in February or March. The sweet smelling flowers appear on what seems to be old dead wood - thus giving hope, luck and a sign of health. Flowers can be white, light or dark pink, red or even yellow and most commonly have five petals. Japanese homes are decorated with fresh plum blossom branches and later when the fruits are produced, these are enjoyed in food and drink.
