blackberry brambles greetings card

One in a series of greetings cards designed by Caroline using inspiration from time spent living in Hertfordshire, England. Taken from artwork created with hand carved stamps of iconic British symbols.

Blackberries in the UK symbolise the end of summer. When you start to see people with empty icecream tubs wandering along the sides of fields, canals or parks, you know it must be time for the juicy berries to turn from
hard and red to soft and deep purple. Each year as a child, my sister and I would pick blackberries with our grandmother. It didn’t seem to matter how tangled or wild the bramble bushes looked, they would always yield a great harvest that then went onto homemade crumble.
Served with custard, naturally!
